''Kent State'' revisited

Article Abstract:

The Left's portrayal of the violence at Kent State University in Kent, OH, in 1970 as the fault of a vicious and stupid system is an attempt by the Left to delegitimise the existing social order. The Left and the liberal media made martyrs of those shot by the National Guard, and portrayed most of the students as passive spectators. However, the truth is that few of those shot were 'innocent victims', but were political activists engaged in violence. The Left's attitudes have led to society taking on a 'criminal ethic' under which the interests of law-abiding citizens come secondary to those of rioters.

Comments on Miles Wolpin's "permissive immigration...."

Article Abstract:

The impact of immigration on labor conditions in the United States and Europe has been viewed differently by conservatives and liberals. Conservatives believe that free market is essential to the health of industries not withstanding American workers' loss of jobs to inexpensive foreign labor. Leftists, on the other hand, are staunchly against this trend as it will cut the benefits enjoyed by the sector they seek to protect, namely the predominantly white population. This analysis, however, fails to take into account the job displacement caused by technological advances.

The rule of law and democracy: ideals, realities and "the human chokepoint."

Article Abstract:

The trial of O.J. Simpson and the impeachment investigation of Pres Bill Clinton are used in illustrating that democracy and the rule of law are being undermined by 'chokepoints' in human processes. These 'chokepoints' render the two ideals useless by sophistries, obfuscations, false dichotomies and mischaracterizations. Bias, partisanship and sychophancy, in turn, take the place of reason.
