Power in exchange networks: critique of a new theory

Article Abstract:

The new social exchange network theory of Kazuo Yamaguchi was found to have loopholes that social scientists commented upon. Kazuo's theory demonstrates that an independent model exists between two variables, A and B, if in the process, A does not seek for the resources of a third variable C. Kazuo also otherwise contends that 'sustainability' is established between A and B, if A demands for C's resources. However, Kazuo's models contradicted his theory. The experimental data Kazuo established did not complement the social exchange theory that he supported.

Actors' responses to outcomes in exchange networks: the process of power development

Article Abstract:

Several theories on power were revealed by a research conducted on network exchanges of actors. Eight different networks have been subjected to an experiment where the primary goal is to evaluate social and psychological theoretical evidences. Actors' responses to exclusion can be construed in terms of the differences of their earnings with those of actors included in exchanges. Actors who have been constantly included in network exchanges tend to increase their demands, while those excluded had no other choice but to lower their demands.

The logic of the new theory and misrepresentations of logic

Article Abstract:

The commentary made on the social exchange network theory was inaccurate because the variables' frequency of exchange with other variables were not considered. Furthermore, it is contended that the independent and substitutability models that he created were analyzed parallel with prior social science frameworks.
