Students' use of computer-mediated communication in a distance education course

Article Abstract:

The effectiveness of using computer-mediated communication (CMC) by students enrolled in distance education courses was assessed. The students in the test group used the technology more often for practical reasons than for academic enrichment. CMC was assessed as only a partial remedy to the isolation of students in distance education and not a way to automatically increase learning.
