The TPH intron 7 A218C polymorphism and TCI dimension scores in alcohol-dependent patients

Article Abstract:

A study was conducted with an aim of finding any association between dimensions of the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) indicating impulsivity and the tryptophan hydroxylase (TPH) alleles. The results suggest that there is no association between TCI dimensions and TPH genotype in the samples, hints to nonspecific psychopathology in connection with the A/A genotype are found.

The relationship of aggression to suicidal behavior in depressed patients with a history of alcoholism

Article Abstract:

Studies conducted suggest that depressed subjects with alcoholism have more chronic impairment and suicidal behavior than individuals with either diagnosis alone. The results conclude that the greater frequency of suicidal behavior and severity of suicidal ideation in major depression with comorbid alcoholism appears related to associated aggressive traits.

Neurobiochemical and clinical aspects of craving in alcohol addiction

Article Abstract:

An insight on how to analyze how many contrasting theories is formulated in order to clarify the concept of craving is presented. The coexistence of many theories tends to indicate that different subtypes of patients could have different mechanisms at the basis of alcohol craving, suggesting that it could be advisable to personalize the anti-craving theory.
