The self and autobiographical memory: Correspondence and coherence

Article Abstract:

A modified version of Conway and Pleydell-Pearce's Self Memory System (SMS) account of autobiographical memory and the self is introduced. Applications of the SMS to personality and clinical psychology are provided through analysis of self-defining memories and adult attachment categories, as well as case histories of traumatic memory.

A tale of three functions: The self-reported uses of autobiographical memory

Article Abstract:

Theories hold that autobiographical memory serves several broad functions such as directive, self and social. Items were derived from the theoretical literature to create the Thinking About Life Experiences (TALE) questionnaire to empirically assess these three functions.
