Knowledge of and attitudes to AIDS among Arab professionals in Israel

Article Abstract:

Arab social workers in Israel appear not to have the necessary skills to provide assistance for AIDS victims. A study conducted indicates that they do not consider the problem of AIDS seriously. Strong religious and cultural influences hinder their development in knowledge and attitudes towards the disease. The study aims to spread the idea among Arabs that AIDS is not merely an exclusive medical problem but a serious social concern. Furthermore, social work aspires for a comprehensive AIDS policy in Israel.
