The unpacking effect in allocations of responsibility for group tasks

Article Abstract:

The tendency of individuals to overestimate their relative contributions to collaborative endeavors is a result of the individuals' inclination to regard their fellow group members as a collective rather than as individuals. It is thus demonstrated that people's tendency to claim more than their fair share of the credit for a group task is attenuated when they 'unpack' their collaborators, conceptualizing them as separate individuals, rather than as 'the test of the group'.

Just going along: nonconscious priming and conformity to social pressure

Article Abstract:

Research presented concerns the influence of nonconscious psychological priming on the level of conformity or nonconformity elicited by a group of subjects. Results suggest subjects primed with conformity and then introduced into a conformity situation were more likely to be influenced by the social pressures of others.
