Urban residential preferences and satisfaction in the former Soviet Union: Results from a survey in Ust'-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan

Article Abstract:

The geography and the structure of residential preferences and satisfaction of the people of the post-Soviet city of Ust'-Kamenogorsk, Kazakhstan is being analyzed on the basis of a questionnaire field survey data obtained by various surveys. The results show that the residential preferences vary with the housing types and the opinions regarding specific neighborhoods, rather than the distance from its city center, suggesting the government to engage itself in various preventive actions to change the present scenario.

Exploring regional firm-size structure in Canadian house building: Ontario, 1991 and 1996

Article Abstract:

A description on the regional firm-size structure of house building in Canada based on a case study of the province of Ontario is presented. Small house building firms abound in large, diverse, and economically vibrant regions, especially large urban regions and thereby maintain industrial deconcentration.

Long-term application of owner occupied single-family house prices in Milwaukee neighborhoods

Article Abstract:

The estimation of annual price indices of owner occupied single-family houses in Milwaukee neighborhoods is discussed. Poor neighborhoods generally have experienced low appreciation rates, although the racial composition and the crime rate in the neighborhood seem to contribute the differential as well.
