Utilization and accessibility of social services for Chinese

Article Abstract:

The behavior of Chinese Canadians while seeking social services and the existing barriers to available the formal services are examined. The findings show that the awareness of service agencies and opinions on the services provided are predictors of Chinese Canadians' service utilization, and that one-third of Chinese Canadians have not used any social services, for various reasons.

Chinese corpus, western application: the Chinese strategy of engagement with western social work discourse

Article Abstract:

This article examines social work development in China, which has adopted western applications with an emphasis on intellectual autonomy. The authors maintain Chinese social workers face the same problems as western social workers, but on a much larger scale with a deep concern for indigenization as China is still a developing nation.
