Variation, repetition, and choice

Article Abstract:

Experiment was conducted to investigate the controlling properties of variability contingencies on choice between repeated and variable responding by exposing pigeons to concurrent-chains schedules with two alternatives. Choice between varying and repeating behavior is discussed with respect to obtained behavioral variability, probability of reinforcement, delay of reinforcement, and switching within a sequence.

Within-session delay-of-reinforcement gradients

Article Abstract:

Within-session delay-of-reinforcement gradients were generated with pigeons by progressively increasing delays to reinforcement within each session. The effect of both progressively increasing unsignaled delays to reinforcement within individual sessions while separating out the simultaneous decrease in reinforcement rate that accompany such delays is examined.

Regency, repeatability, and reinforcer retrenchment: an experimental analysis of resurgence

Article Abstract:

The experimental conditions necessary for the occurrence of resurgence, is determined with the experiments performed on pigeons. The findings reveal the terms of the variables controlling resurgence and the relations between behavioral history, resurgence, and other forms of response recovery.
