Article Abstract:

The Numetal surfacing material developed by in-house designers Irene Iwaniw and Louise Russell for Numetal Surfaces of Riverside, NJ, won a gold award in the furniture category of the 1992 I.D. Annual Design Review. Numetal fuses metals and natural pigments to glass, metal, wood and other bases to give a variety of looks ranging from fossilized woor to aged gold and gilded copper. It opens up a wide variety of surface finishing applications such as wallpapers, furniture, lampshade and portfolios.
