Divers and the environment

Article Abstract:

There is a lack of concerted effort to address environmental issues plaguing the marine environment. Pollution can cause the deterioration of the ocean's ability to repair itself. This effect is known as the deterioration of water quality. Divers should help in solving this pressing problem.

What's REEF?

Article Abstract:

The Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) was founded in 1991 in Florida. It is a volunteer and grass roots organization. REEF members aid marine research by collecting data by fishwatching and identification. The data is used by the Marine Conservation Science Center in Miami.

Divers can help to conserve the marine environment by volunteering to work with local and national conservation organizations. Among the organizations divers can support are the Reef Environmental Education Foundation (REEF) and Center for Marine Conservation (CMC).
