East Coast wrecks: North Carolina's U-701

Article Abstract:

The World War Two German submarine, U-701, had a short career. It was sunk by an American plane off Cape Hatteras, NC, on Jul 7, 1942. The wreckage was discovered in 1989 by Uwe Lovas, who has kept the location a secret in deference to the wishes of the ill-fated submarine's commander who helped in his research.
