Granola look gives way to sleeker X-C fashions

Article Abstract:

Nordic ski fashions have moved away from the practical homespun look to a sleeker, more colorful up-to-date look, that is both functional and versatile. Buyers are selecting more varied clothing for the beginning as well as the racing-oriented skier.

The surprise in fashion: buyers go for drama

Article Abstract:

Skiwear buyers preferred dramatic pieces, unusual color combinations and geometric designs to the more traditional styling. Vests and windshirt-vest combinations did surprisingly well. Americans prefer nylons, whereas in Europe cotton is preferred. Lower-priced lines outsold higher and medium priced skiwear.
