Promotions draw crowds, end post-holiday blues

Article Abstract:

In addition to off-price selling, sales promotion techniques include free or reduced-cost service, skiing-update evening sessions, discounted lift tickets, private showings, and meetings with factory representatives or professional skiers. Wine and cheese tasting parties or tour and travel night promotions are excellent for bringing destination skiers back into the shop. Innovative contests, particularly those where winners are posted daily in the store, or radio broadcasts in a talk show format, have proven their worth.

Take markdowns on dogs now or they'll devour your O-T-B

Proper actions to convert overstocks into cash flow will give marketers a chance at this season's skier, minimize inventory carryover, and let the buyer approach the new season with flexible open-to-buys.
