A refit reality check

Article Abstract:

The most common need of an old boat owner is the need to upgrade. In most cases, upgrading the facilities and parts of a boat can cost a lot. Nigel Calder's boat the Nada, for example, cost him $40,000 to upgrade which could have easily gone higher if Calder had not undertaken the upgrading himself.

Of mangroves missteps and Mona

Article Abstract:

A sailing trip from Samana, Dominican Republic to the Virgin Island via the Mona Passage is recounted. The highlight of the voyage was the unintended stopover in Puerto Rico which proved to be a pleasurable experience.
