The new breed dive computers

Article Abstract:

Eight new nitrox-compatible dive computer models have been assessed. These are the Aeris 300 G, Aeris Atmos Pro, Aeris Savant, Dive Rite NiteK3, Sherwood Scuba AWAC-1, Suunto Vyper, UBS Chameleon and the UBS Nitrox Pro2. These brands have nitrox capability, have PC interfaces, employ push buttons, have user-adjustable no-decompression limits (NDL) and use graphs with color highlighting. Each model has been evaluated in 13 dive situations ranging from a single dive of 40 ft to the maximum of the NDL and on a repetitive multilevel dive.
