An aerodynamic excuse

Article Abstract:

Techniques for reaching the highest lift-drag ratio in sailing are described. A good indicator of the lift-drag ratio is the windward telltale. The lift-drag ratio is at its highest when the windward telltale is just lifting and starts to decline as the angle of attack on the sails increases.
