Assessment of blood lactate: practical evaluation of the Biosen 5030 lactate analyzer

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that Biosen 5030 lactate analyzer measures blood lactate in a fast reliable and stable fashion across a range of lactate concentrations at room temperature as shown by evaluating 144 triplicate capillarized blood samples.

Peak power predicts performance power during an outdoor 16.1-km cycling time trial

Article Abstract:

A study has been carried out to evaluate reproducibility of peak power output (PPO) recorded during a maximal aerobic power test and its validity as a predictor of endurance performance during a field-based 16.1-km time trial. It was found that PPO can be a valid, reliable measure of endurance performance. It can be used to predict average power during the time trial but not to predict performance time.

Does lower-body BMD develop at the expense of upper-body BMD in female runners?

Article Abstract:

Results demonstrate that the bone mass of women endurance runners at lower-body sites is stimulated by a combination of running exercise and calcium consumption at the expense of upper-body sites' bone mass.
