Beat the ulcer bug - for good!

Article Abstract:

Research on 105 duodenal ulcer patients reveals that antibiotic therapy in combination with standard ranitidine therapy works better than ranitidine alone. Duodenal ulcers are caused by the Helicobacter pylori bacterium, which is not affected by ranitidine.

An ear implant that works as a cochlea contains a transmitter and decoder that allows the deaf to hear. The 22-channel device is surgically implanted into the ear. A telephone number for the Cochlear Implant Information Hotline is included.

Penicillin's no villain: you may not be allergic to it after all

Article Abstract:

Research suggests that up to 80% of people identified as allergic to penicillin in childhood may actually be able to take the medication safely in adulthood. Of 132 British patients, only 4 were found to be allergic based on a blood test.
