The player

Article Abstract:

Kournikova is unhappy with her image as a small-talent athlete parleying physical beauty into celebrity. She has yet to win her first tour championship, but she and others close to her insist her determination and skill are not lacking. A number eight ranking in singles and number one ranking in doubles buttress the assertion. Kournikova cites her susceptibility to injury at inopportune moments as a reason for her failure to win a title.
