Concussion (mild traumatic brain injury) and the team physician: A consensus statement

Article Abstract:

Concussion or mild traumatic brain injury (MTBI) is a pathophysiological process affecting the brain induced by direct or indirect biomechanical forces and a study aims to assist the team physician in providing optimal medical care for the athlete with concussion. Individual treatment would turn on the specific facts and circumstances presented to the physician, the athlete and the sponsoring organization and concussions cannot be completely prevented.

Impact of stretch-shortening cycle rest interval on in vivo muscle performance

Article Abstract:

An attempt is made to investigate the impact of rest interval between sets of stretch-shortening cycles (SSC) on static and dynamic muscle performance. Results reveal that short rest intervals between athletic or vocational tasks of heightened physical exertion may adversely affect performance and increase injury susceptibility.
