Article Abstract:

An analysis of the teams participating in the 2000 America's Cup is presented. There will be 13 teams challenging the New Zealand defenders, including 5 teams from the US. Getting the cup away from the defenders will be challenging, and some American boats may not hold up under the Auckland turbulence.

Team Dennis Conner has combined forces with Peter Holmberg's Team Caribbean and has obtained the services of Ken Read as helmsman. Holmberg's role is yet undefined even though his comprehensive knowledge of the rules and his skill in match racing may still make him a principal member.
