Cure-alls for cuts

Article Abstract:

People who spend much time outdoors have a greater risk of suffering from splinters, scrapes and puncture wounds. Stopping the bleeding with directly applied pressure is the first step when a wound occurs. Additional steps include cleaning and dressing the wound to reduce chances of infection.

Knowledge of first aid can prevent further injuries when outdoorsmen suffer head or neck injuries. Airway, breathing and circulation should be checked before checking for other injuries. People with head or neck injuries should be moved as little as possible.

Surviving the snake pit

Article Abstract:

Hunters and fishermen should be able to identify different types of snakes, especially if they are bitten by one. Approximately 8,000 of the 45,000 snake bites yearly are by venomous snakes. A guide to the behavior of snakes is provided.
