Differential leukocytosis and lymphocyte mitogenic response to acute maximal exercise in the young and old

Article Abstract:

Research on acute maximal exercise has determined similarities and differences between youth and the elderly in their physiological responses. Although blood leukocyte response during exercise was similar in both younger and older test subjects, older participants showed less resiliency in leukocytosis than their younger counterparts. Older subjects also had different lympho-proliferative responses.

Measuring physical strain during ambulation with accelerometry

Article Abstract:

A study to measure physical strain during ambulation with accelerometry has been carried out with the finding that, compared with heart rate, accelerometry makes accurate measurement with little error possible in an able-bodied person. Need for calibration was not established.

Physical and psychological changes with vigorous exercise in sedentary primigravidae

Article Abstract:

Results suggest that aerobic fitness significantly improves physical fitness of previously sedentary pregnant women. The study also indicates low risk sedentary subjects can tolerate an exercise regime without deleterious effects to themselves or unborn child.
