Boat purchasers should avoid overreaching themselves financially. A $100,000 boat may be bought with a $20,000 down payment and financed for 15 years at a monthly installment rate of $825. However, taxes, insurance, dock rates and maintenance costs could make the boat too costly for many budgets.
