Effect of microhydrin on blood lactate, protein carbonyls, and glutathione status in rats before and after aerobic exercise

Article Abstract:

Forty-two male rats were assigned to either a control treatment or one of two Microhydrin treatments (MH I or MH II) to examine the effects of an antioxidant treatment on blood lactate, protein carbonyls (PC), and glutathione status. It was concluded that MH II treatment results in lower blood lactate, while resulting in an increase in the concentration of oxidized protein and glutathione, suggesting heightened oxidative stress.

Vitamin C supplementation affects oxidative-stress blood markers in response to a 30-minute run at 75% VO(sub 2max)

Article Abstract:

Vitamin C supplementation (VC) was compared to a placebo treatment to ascertain if VC could influence oxidative stress. Data suggests that the VC supplementation can attenuate exercise-induced protein oxidation in a dose-dependent manner with no effect on lipid peroxidation and glutathione status.
