Effects of acute exercise on mood and well being in patients with major depressive disorder

Article Abstract:

A study is conducted to determine if a single bout of moderate-intensity aerobic exercise would improve mood and well being in individuals, who are receiving treatment for Major Depressive Disorder (MDD). The results indicate that although 30 minutes of either moderate-intensity treadmill exercise or quite rest is sufficient to improve the mood and well being of patients with MDD, exercise appears to have a greater effect on the positively valenced states measured.

Peer relationship profiles and motivation in youth sport

Article Abstract:

Peer relationship profiles of youth sport participants are described and motivational salience of these profiles is assessed by examining profile group differences on sport motivation-related variables. The findings support the theoretical views on social relationships and motivation as well as the efficacy of a person-centered approach to the examination of peer relationships in sport.

Measurement of social physique anxiety in early adolescence

Article Abstract:

A study to assess the factorial validity and gender invariance of the Social Physique Anxiety Scale (SPAS) using a sample of young adolescents is presented. The psychometric properties of SPAS with a heterogeneous sample of young adolescents suggest that the instrument may be used in research exploring social physique anxiety in adolescence.
