Foot placement modifies kinematics and kinetics during drop jumping

Article Abstract:

The choice of foot placement impacts a person's joint loading to the total power during drop jumping and landing. University students jumped off a 0.4-m high box, landing either with the heel (HTL) or the toes (FFL) first. Comparisons of landing styles indicate that FFL uses more energy absorption in the leg muscles than HTL. FFL landings also produced greater power by synchronizing the joints in ankle, knee and hip.

The benefits of wearing a compression sleeve after ACL reconstruction

Article Abstract:

A study of whether or not use of a compression sleeve will help to increase muscle coordination after anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) reconstruction has been carried out in 36 patients. The patients had undergone unilateral ACL reconstruction a minimum of 12 months before. The use of the compression sleeve was found to improve total integration of muscle coordination and the balance control system.
