It is easy to design and construct counter tops for boats using selected materials, equipment and techniques. Formica or plastic laminate is the material of choice. Routers are recommended for the finishing cut. To get better results, the counter top must be sand before installing the laminate.

A process for adding stowage space in the forepeak of a 28-foot cruiser is described. The entire forepeak area is leveled to one V-shaped bunk with sail bins underneath for storing warps, spare parts and other supplies.
