Functional capability is enhanced with semitendinosus than patellar tendon ACL repair

Article Abstract:

Results reveal that patients receiving a patellar tendon graft compromise functional performance as compared with those receiving a semitendinosus graft during the reconstruction of the anterior cruciate ligament. Data indicate that this may be due to a change in the activation of the quadriceps and hamstring muscles.

Quantitative MR measures of three-dimensional patellar kinematics as a research and diagnostic tool

Research using magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to create a three-dimensional study of the in vivo kinematic relationship between the patella, femur and tibia is presented. The value of Cine Phase Contrast MRI as a diagnostic tool is discussed.
