Get pushy

Article Abstract:

There are three skills that should be perfected to achieve the best breaststroke pushoff in swimming. The maintenance of a horizontal movement is the first skill that should be mastered. Streamlining and timing skills are also effective in speeding up a pushoff. Moreover, Kurt Grote, a world champion in swimming, recommends eight steps that one may practice in becoming a fast swimmer. They include the pushoff and glide technique and sculling of hands at the body's center line.

A kick out of you

Article Abstract:

Kurt Grote, a world champion in swimming, recommends seven steps in improving breaststroke kick. The steps require streamlining when preparing for another rhythmic cycle. Grote suggests the use of core muscles when pushing the hips forward. He also emphasizes the importance of keeping the momentum when doing a breaststroke and this could be performed by doing the proper movement of the heels and toes. Sculling drills are the favorite training exercise of Grote.
