Ginseng treatment improves psychomotor performance at rest and during graded exercise in young athletes

Article Abstract:

Issues concerning the effect of ginseng treatment on multiple choice reaction time during exercise are discussed. A group of 15 soccer players were placed in ginseng or placebo groups, and an incremental bicycle ergometer exercise was performed. The results were that ginseng extract did improve psychomotor performance during exercise without affecting exercise capacity.

The effect of low-carbohydrate diet on the pattern of hormonal changes during incremental, graded exercise in young men

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effect of restricting dietary carbohydrates for three days on hormonal response to exhaustive exercise in young male subjects. Findings indicate that a low-carbohydrate diet reduces the noradrenaline threshold during exercise and influences levels of circulating hormones, but does not affect hormonal change patterns during exercise.

The effects of restricted energy and fluid intake on simulated amateur boxing performance

Article Abstract:

This article examines the effects of dietary and fluid restrictions on subsequent boxing performance. Findings indicate that restricting fluids and energy intake resulted in reductions in body mass and blood lactate concentrations and slightly decreased punching forces.
