Article Abstract:

Former athletes who no longer exercise run as high a risk of heart attack in middle age as men who have been sedentary all their lives. Ongoing exercise, expending about 2,000 calories per week, will reduce the risk of heart failure regardless of past inactivity.

Smarter stress test? Relaxation may be best Rx for hearts

Article Abstract:

A research study has suggested that mental stress can restrict the flow of blood to the heart, thereby increasing the risk of heart attacks. The study indicates that testing for mental stress might be a useful addition to traditional tests for exercise stress.

Rising right: exercise may hike natural clot busters

Article Abstract:

A recent study indicates that regular aerobic-type exercise may help keep blood from clotting, even in the early morning hours. Clotting is the primary immediate cause of heart attacks, and many attacks take place as people get up in the morning.
