Heavy shots in golf are usually the result of poor body alignment or weight distribution, the shift of the swing's central axis, a lean of the upper body or an improper downswing. Guidelines for correcting these errors are presented.

An incomplete backswing can cause a golfer to slide toward the target on the downswing, resulting in a slice or a hook. A full backswing and turn produce better accuracy.
