Research on DHEA, a hormone of the adrenal glands, indicates most of the men and women using the hormone had more energy and strength, better sleep, a greater ability to handle stress, and a heightened feeling of well-being. However, the Food and Drug Administration has halted sales of the hormone.

Studies have shown that human growth hormone (HGH), the substance that helps rejuvenate the body, circulates primarily during deep sleep. Since deep sleep decreases with age, the resulting loss of HGH may be related to aging. However, both exercise and hot baths may help increase deep sleep.

Hypochondria is caused by a health anxiety often related to depression. The anxiety can cause actual physical ailments that mimic many diseases. Cognitive-behavior therapy is the most effective treatment for hypochondria.
