Iceland salmon runs rebound

Article Abstract:

Founder and chairman of the North Atlantic Salmon Fund, Orri Vigfusson, has called for other salmon countries to change their management policies to increase their salmon runs, following the best Atlantic salmon runs in Iceland since 1978. He states that the concerned should help maximize Atlantic salmon stocks by improving river habitats and opening new spawning grounds wherever possible.

Article Abstract:

Commercial fishermen are accusing ubiquitous and resourceful marine mammals of taking large number of salmon and steelhead from their nets or the open ocean that would otherwise be caught for human benefit. The best way to better salmon and steelhead fishing as well as protecting endangered stocks is to reduce the population of seals and sea lions by lethal weapons.
