If you love a piece of land

Article Abstract:

Easements are legal agreements between owners of ecologically valuable lands and land trusts that permanently prohibit development of the land in order to protect it. Easement-protected farms, ranches and woodlands are essential to conservationists' efforts to perpetuate threatened wildlife, since more rare and endangered species are found on private property than in all the public parks, refuges, and preserves in the United States.

User fees: for years conservation programs have been funded by sportsmen. Isn't it time for others to help pay the bills?

Article Abstract:

The general public should pay user fees to enjoy public lands. Hunters and anglers do not mind paying an excise tax on equipment, but they should not have to bear the entire cost. Laws about hunting on private land and concessions on public lands are also discussed.
