Enhancement of 2000-m rowing performance after caffeine ingestion

Article Abstract:

This article examines the beneficial effects of caffeine ingestion on rowing performance in competitive oarsmen. Results indicate that ingesting caffeine approximately one hour before a high-intensity performance test improves short-term endurance and speed in trained rowers.

Placebo effect of carbohydrate feedings during a forty kilometer cycling time trial

Article Abstract:

This article examines the placebo effect associated with ingesting a potentially ergogenic beverage during a forty kilometer cycling test. Results indicate that trained cyclists who drank a carbohydrate beverage experienced a minimal power reduction while those who ingested the placebo experienced a slight increase in endurance.

Improved 2000-meter rowing performance in competitive oarswomen after caffeine ingestion

Article Abstract:

This article examines the ergogenic effects of caffeine on rowing performance in competitive female rowers. Findings indicate that ingesting caffeine an hour before exercise increases plasma concentrations of free fatty acids and significantly improves rowing time during simulated time trials using laboratory ergometers.
