Inertial effects on mechanically braked Wingate power calculations

Article Abstract:

This study investigates the effects of inertia on calculations used to determine anaerobic power output during a Wingate test on a mechanically braked cycle ergometer. Results indicate that the inertial effects of a friction-loaded ergometer influence characteristics of power output and the accuracy of Wingate test calculations.

Racing cyclist power requirements in the 4000-m individual and team pursuits

Article Abstract:

This study addresses the power requirements of individual and team racing cyclists based on the field test data and theoretical models. Results reveal that with known average power potential of an individual or a team, the performance can be predicted fairly accurately using theoretical models.

Reliability of an air-braked ergometer to record peak power during a maximal cycling test

Article Abstract:

Peak cycling power was measured with SRM and Kingcycle ergometers. Discrepancy between the two was measured and the SRM cranks were identified as providing more reproducible measures of peak power.
