Injuries among disabled athletes during the 2002 Winter Paralympic Games

Article Abstract:

A prospective injury surveillance study was conducted to understand the types of and risk factors for injuries sustained by athletes with disabilities competing in adapted winter sports at the elite level. The injury patterns observed among athletes participating in the Winter Paralympics were not very different from able-bodied athletes competing in similar disciplines, although in many instances the risk factors for sport-specific injury appeared to be unique to disabled or adapted competition.
