Seven female ski jumpers are introduced. One of them, 12-year-old Lindsey Van,is one of the most promising US jumpers. Women ski jumpers are rare and they have few competitions, little money and no recognition. Yet they love to jump. Karla Keck is the champion US woman jumper.

Holiday Valley ski resort in Ellicottville, NY, has only a 750-ft vertical drop, but it is one of the most popular ski areas in the country. The family resort sponsors many races and emphasizes freestyle skiing. The town is charming and friendly.
