Golfers should mark their balls for identification purposes. If two golfers cannot tell their balls apart, they must consider the balls lost and tee off again with a stroke-and-distance penalty.

A golfer who gives the wrong information on the number of strokes taken in match play is penalized by the loss of the hole. The hole is halved if the golfer holes out for no worse than a half.

One drop or two? Knowing whether to re-drop can be tricky

Article Abstract:

A re-drop is not required if a golf ball rolls closer to the hole after hitting the ground. A re-drop is necessary if the ball rolls closer than its original position.
