Motivation and perceptions of control: tracing its development and plotting its future in exercise and sport psychology

Article Abstract:

Ellen Skinner's agent-means-ends framework and her competence system model can be used to analyze control-related motivation constructs that sport and exercise psychology has studied. Analysis of attribution has declined in sports psychology research in favor of achievement goal orientation. People's beliefs in their efficacy influence their courses of action, and how much effort they will apply.

Exercise as therapy for schizophrenia: an ethnographic study

Article Abstract:

Exercise has the potential to reduce schizophrenics' auditory hallucinations, raise their self-esteem, improve their sleep patterns and general behavior. Distraction, a chance to leave the hospital setting, and social interaction had positive effects on participants in the study. Research results favor the use of exercise as an adjunct treatment in psychiatric rehabilitation.
