One of the fastest growing trends in the health care industry is the use of sub-acute care units for people who are sick or injured, but do not need the full services of a hospital. Many of these sub-acute care facilities are poorly run and often are geared towards the elderly, not young, short-term patients.

The New Zealand Classic Motorcycle Racing Register celebrated a vintage motorcyle speed festival in Feb 1998. The event was attended by some 155 racers and featured 240 vintage motorcycles. Foreign racing champions who attended the event were Paul Smart and Grand Prix champion Arthur Wheeler.
