One daughter, one dad, two bikes: A test of endurance becomes a journey of discovery

Article Abstract:

A daughter of a retired US Air Force pilot narrates in detail about her discovery of the real character of her father when she undertakes a bike ride with him along a 529-mile journey in Kansas' northeast border to celebrate his retirement from flying. She describes her emotional journey during which she got introduced to the young man her father once was, and saw herself reflected in that young idealist, determined to find his own way and his own truths.

New name, old diet

Julie Miller Jones, a professor of nutrition at the college of St. Catherine in St. Paul, Minnesota states that the low carb diets keep coming back again and again with different names and gimmicks, like the Atkins diet bearing a striking resemblance to the eating plan published by London casket maker William Banting in 1864. The liquid plans, diets emphasizing single foods are further discussed.
