Physical activity in the prevention and treatment of obesity and its comorbidities: evidence report of independent panel to assess the role of physical activity in the treatment of obesity and its comorbidities

Article Abstract:

This review discusses the role physical activity in preventing obesity and its comorbidities. Results indicate that there is a strong correlation between regular exercise and weight control and combining physical activity regimen with low-energy diets further augments weight loss leading to beneficial effect on obesity related comorbidities.

This article presents demographic and scientific data on the status of the research in the area of obesity and its comorbidities. Recent survey points out about 55% of American adults are obese and spread over many ages, genders, and racial/ethnic groups.

Comorbidities of overweight and obesity: current evidence and research issues

Article Abstract:

The relationship between obesity and medical comorbidities shows a positive association of obesity with a number of medical comorbidities including obesity, central fat distribution, and morbidity.
