Myasthenia gravis in a collegiate football player

Article Abstract:

This article presents a case study of a college athlete who developed myasthenia gravis after experiencing head trauma during a football game. The use of calcium and potassium supplements and high-dose prednisone therapy effectively managed symptoms and permitted the patient to continue with athletic training.

Kinetic changes with fatigue and relationship to injury in female runners

Article Abstract:

A research was undertaken to examine how ground reaction forces (GRF) changed with fatigue induced by an exhaustive treadmill run in female runners. The results revealed that habitual female runners appear to adapt their running style with fatigue, resulting in altered GRF and that changes in GRF with fatigue may be associated with lower-extremity running injuries.

Preliminary results: Effect of whole-body cooling in patients with myasthenia gravis

Article Abstract:

A study aims to determine whether lowering temperature by whole-body cooling using a cooling vest would improve muscle strength and decrease perceptions of weakness and fatigue in patients with generalized myasthenia gravis (MG). The findings show a decrease in weakness and fatigue and therefore increase in muscle strength and endurance due to cooling but further research focusing on physical activity, specific muscles and use of simple devices is necessary.
