Effective hunting dogs are those which can distinguish between species and can locate fallen birds without seeing the direction of descent. Hunting dogs should be trained under actual hunting conditions and under the supervision of people who know how to train them.

Article Abstract:

Dog trainer Gary Ruppel uses a combination of gentle treatement and strict methods in training canine hunting companions. Ruppel believes that puppies are easier to train, but he also takes in older dogs of various breeds who learn to chase and point at game.
