Article Abstract:
DNA damage and increased likelihood of having childhood leukemia has been shown to be associated with the exposure of fetus to environmental pollutants called polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (PAHs). Pregnant women are not advised to take Indole-3-carbinol (I3C) as this supplement may cause birth defects. Details on a study conducted by the Linus Pauling Institute at Oregon State University regarding exposure to I3C and dibenzopyrene are presented.
